About this tool

This tool discovers a submitted or conventional sitemap, validates its XML structure, follows a bounded number of child sitemaps, and checks a representative URL sample for redirects, errors, and noindex signals.

What you get

A clear, usable result

  • Sitemap discovery, XML type, child sitemap references, duplicates, and malformed or missing dates.
  • A bounded sample spread through the URL list instead of assuming the first entries represent the whole site.
  • Sample response status, final URL, redirect behavior, and noindex directives.
How to read the result

Healthy structure

The sitemap can be parsed and its sampled URLs mostly return indexable responses. Keep monitoring after migrations and large publishing changes.

Quality mismatch

Redirecting, failing, duplicate, or noindex URLs waste sitemap attention. Remove or replace entries so the file reflects preferred indexable URLs.

Sample, not census

A clean sample is evidence, not proof that every URL is healthy. Use Search Console or a scheduled crawler for full production monitoring.

Limitations and sources
  • Large sitemap indexes and URL sets are deliberately capped to keep a free request fast and safe.
  • lastmod quality cannot be proven from one fetch; a valid date may still be operationally inaccurate.
  • A sitemap helps discovery but does not guarantee crawling, indexing, or ranking.
Questions about this tool

Should redirects or noindex URLs stay in a sitemap?

Usually no. A sitemap should communicate the preferred canonical URLs you want indexed, not retired or intentionally excluded variants.

How often should lastmod change?

Update it when the page changes meaningfully. Automatically setting every URL to today can make the signal less useful to crawlers.
