Simulate one crawl

Inspect what the server actually returns to a crawler.

01
Crawler type
This is a Googlebot-style HTTP request. It does not run JavaScript or prove Google indexed the page.

Ready to simulate a crawl

Enter a public page URL to see what a Googlebot-style request receives.

About this tool

Send a Googlebot-style HTTP request and inspect what the server returns: access status, robots policy, index directives, response headers, visible text, and source HTML. This separates fetch problems from content problems quickly.

What you get

A clear, usable result

  • Final URL, status, content type, response headers, redirects, and request duration.
  • Robots.txt permission plus page-level noindex signals returned to the crawler-style request.
  • Readable server-returned text and bounded HTML snippets for diagnosis without storing the page.
How to read the result

Fetch succeeds

The public server answered this crawler-style request. Compare text and metadata with what users see to detect rendering or personalization gaps.

Access denied or challenged

A 401, 403, 429, challenge page, or repeated redirect can prevent reliable crawling. Review CDN, WAF, origin, and rate-limit logs together.

Thin server response

If key content appears only after client rendering, the source response may look sparse. Confirm with Google’s own inspection tools before changing architecture.

Limitations and sources
  • This is not Google infrastructure and does not prove exactly what Google fetched, rendered, or indexed.
  • It inspects the HTTP response and does not execute a full browser JavaScript rendering pipeline.
  • Bot managers can treat this request differently from verified Googlebot IP ranges.
Questions about this tool

Why does the page work in my browser but fail here?

Browsers carry cookies, execute scripts, and may pass interactive challenges. Crawlers depend more heavily on an accessible server response and consistent bot policy.

Is a Googlebot user agent enough to simulate Google?

No. It reproduces one request characteristic, not Google’s verified network identity, rendering systems, crawl history, or indexing decisions.
